Synopsis
PITCH
A social drama set against the backdrop of real-estate corruption in rural Morocco, told through the misfortune of a very young girl—Sarah, eleven years old—who mysteriously vanishes on the night of her wedding.
Seventeen years later, Kamal, a young man from a wealthy family who grew up alongside Sarah, is now a police officer. Alongside his official duties investigating the real-estate underworld, he conducts a private inquiry into the brutal, obscure disappearance of his soulmate—his childhood friend… the tenderness of his happiest years.
As his investigations unfold, they gradually lead him back to the very members of his own family. An intriguing young woman—Sabrina, cunning and deceptive—seduces him, setting in motion a morally charged entanglement that will upend the lives of everyone involved.
SHORT SYNOPSIS
A social drama set against the backdrop of real-estate corruption in rural Morocco, told through the tragedy of Sarah, a young girl who mysteriously disappears on the night of her wedding—and on the eve of her twelfth birthday. The marriage, sealed by the Fatiha, has been arranged by the wealthy agrarian judge Haj’Kerrout, who keeps Sarah’s modest parents under financial pressure—driven to the brink by debt and by the illness of their son, Hamid.
Seventeen years later, Kamal, now a police officer and the child of a privileged family, pursues an unofficial investigation into Sarah’s disappearance—his childhood friend, the one who embodied his earliest joy. Around the same time, his superior assigns him an official case involving real-estate corruption. The overlap unsettles Kamal and pulls him into a downward spiral—one that mirrors his own grandfather’s position in local affairs.
By chance, Kamal meets Sabrina, the daughter of Aïcha, president of the Alhamat Association for Orphans of Casablanca, active throughout Morocco. Sabrina is intriguing—deceptive, provocative—and she seduces Kamal in a Casablanca bar. From that moment on, events begin to cascade: dreamlike and real, violent and tender, seductive and hateful. The increasingly conflictual bond between Sabrina and Kamal makes the young officer doubt the very foundation of their relationship.
A true descent into hell—into the labyrinth of a society starving for morality and human values… Stirring the past most often releases the residue of vice and suffering.
It is up to each person to find the true source of hope—and close this Pandora’s box forever…
Or not.
